Regular Season Round 6: Union SF - Ameghino 96-67

There was a small surprise in Santa Fe where third ranked Union SF (5-4) smashed 3rd ranked Ameghino (5-5) 96-67 on Saturday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Union SF dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Ameghino's 40. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Ameghino's players. Forward Gaston Marozzi (196-95) scored 26 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Emiliano Correa (188-91) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was power forward Juan-Luis Abeiro (195-88) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American power forward Willie Readus (201-92, college: Delta St.) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Union SF have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Ameghino dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Union SF will face league's second-placed San Isidro in San Francisco in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ameghino will play on the road against the league's leader Barrio Parque in Cordoba and hope to win that game.
