Regular Season Round 8: Vardar - Gostivar 80-82

Important game to mention about took place in Skopje. Fifth ranked Gostivar (5-2) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Vardar (2-5) 82-80 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vardar. Gostivar players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by American forward Joe Furstinger (206, college: N.Mexico, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international point guard Aleksandar Kostoski (186-88, agency: PEPI SPORT) supported him with 17 points and 5 assists. Four Gostivar players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 41 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds by American guard Junious Prowell (188, college: S.Crescent Tech) did not help to save the game for Vardar. Pavle Mihajloski (195-99) added 9 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Gostivar have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Vardar keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Gostivar will play against Pelister Bitola (#10) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Vardar will play against Ohrid AV and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
