Regular Season Round 11: Mannheim - Fellbach 71-80

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Fellbach and 11th ranked Mannheim had identical 3-6 record. But Mannheim was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Fellbach 80-71 on Sunday night. Fellbach dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Mannheim's 30. They outrebounded Mannheim 46-29 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American center Scooter Gillette (206-90, college: Fair Dickinson) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Marco Schlafke (187-82) helped adding 16 points. Fellbach's coach Christopher Ferguson used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Swingman Alexander Kuhn (198-92) responded with 17 points and David Scheffels (200-96) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Four Mannheim players scored in double figures. Fellbach (4-6) moved-up to seventh place in South-West, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Mannheim keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. Fellbach will face league's second-placed Speyer at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mannheim will play against TV Langen (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
