There was no surprise in Sankt Petersburg where 9th ranked Spartak SP-2 (5-9) was defeated by third ranked Unics-2 (9-5) 86-69 on Friday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 51-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Unics-2 forced 22 Spartak SP-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 46-26 including a 25-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Spartak SP-2 was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Artem Ivanov (193-98) who scored 19 points and 5 assists. Forward Kiril Poponin (198-98) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Grigoriy Komisarenko (198-98) who recorded 15 points and 4 assists and guard Pavel Kirienko (196-98) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Unics-2 have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-5 record having just four point less than leader CSKA Junior, which they share with Lokomotiv-2. Loser Spartak SP-2 dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. Unics-2 will face Zenit-2 (#5) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round. Spartak SP-2 will play at home against N.Novgorod-2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
