Regular Season Round 4: Singapore S. - Macau 98-88

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Chinese Macau (3-2) against fourth ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers (3-1) on Friday night. Visiting Macau was defeated by Singapore Slingers in Singapore 98-88. Singapore Slingers dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Macau's 48. They outrebounded Macau 46-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. Singapore Slingers players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Macau's players. The winners were led by American power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) who scored that evening 32 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) supported him with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. Even 26 points by American-Filipino guard Mikh McKinney (184-92, college: Sacramento St.) did not help to save the game for Macau. American guard Anthony Tucker (193-89, college: MSU Moorhead) added 26 points and 5 assists for lost side. Singapore Slingers moved-up to third place. Macau at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Singapore Slingers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Macau will play at home against the league's second-placed Saigon Heat (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
