Regular Season Round 8: BG Goettingen - Ruhr 74-87

Bottom-ranked BG Goettingen (0-8) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to second ranked Ruhr (6-2) 87-74 on Saturday evening. Ruhr looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists. BG Goettingen was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Alexander Winck (195-0) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Erik Neusel (204-0) who added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Ruhr players scored in double figures. Point guard Alan Bause (186-1) responded with 15 points and Domenik Jaschewski (195-0) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ruhr have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group 2 with 6-2 record having just two point less than leader Ludwigsburg BBA, which they share with TSV Bayer 04. Loser BG Goettingen still closes the standings with eight games lost. Ruhr will face league's leader Falcons in Frankfurt in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. BG Goettingen will play on the road against Basketball-Akademie (#6) in Giessen and hopes to get finally their first victory.
