Regular Season Round 11: Alginet - Benicarlo 81-73

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 3rd placed Benicarlo (6-4) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Alginet (6-3) 81-73 on Sunday. Alginet made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Benicarlo turnovers. Benicarlo was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Adrian Galvez (187-87) who scored 30 points and 8 rebounds. Center Luis Verdeguer-Ferrer (205-87) chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Romeo Smith (201-95, college: Missouri Valley) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian center Dragan Maric (202-93) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Alginet have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in Group E-A. Benicarlo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Alginet will face league's leader Lliria on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Benicarlo will play against Puerto Sagunto and hope to win that game.
