Regular Season Round 9: Hammarby - BG Lulea 112-89

Very important is a road loss of second ranked BG Lulea (5-2) against fifth ranked Hammarby (4-3) on Sunday night. Visiting BG Lulea was crushed by Hammarby in Stockholm 112-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BG Lulea. The game was mostly controlled by Hammarby. BG Lulea was better in fourth quarter 32-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hammarby dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to BG Lulea's 44. They outrebounded BG Lulea 40-28 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hammarby players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. BG Lulea was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Leo Lightner (190-96) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Uros Cigoja (198-98) chipped in 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Wiggo Wiberg (199-0) with 14 points and 5 rebounds and guard Gustav Moberg (189-0) scored 15 points. Four BG Lulea players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hammarby maintains fifth place with 4-3 record. BG Lulea at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Bankeryd. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
