Regular Season Round 5: Atomeromu - MBK Ruzomb. 87-72

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hungarian Atomeromu as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group H. Atomeromu defeated leader Slovakian MBK Ruzomberok in Szekszard 87-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of MBK Ruzomberok. It was a key game for the top position in Group H. It looked good early as MBK Ruzomberok took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Atomeromu had a 27-17 second period charge getting the lead and MBK Ruzomberok was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-87. Atomeromu dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to MBK Ruzomberok's 34 and made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Atomeromu players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Erica McCall (190-95, college: Stanford, agency: ProDep Management) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side and Australian center Abby Bishop (189-88) accounted for 29 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Chucky Jeffery (178-91, college: Colorado) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Aaryn Ellenberg (170-92, college: Oklahoma) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively for MBK Ruzomberok in the defeat. Four MBK Ruzomberok players scored in double figures. Atomeromu have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with MBK Ruzomb. MBK Ruzomberok will play next round against strong Celje trying to get back on the winning streak. Atomeromu will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Basketball Nymburk on the road.
