The game between Top Four teams took place in Shanghai. 3rd placed host Sharks (11-5) were smashed by leader Guandong Tigers (16-0) 138-101. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sharks. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 88 of its points in the paint compared to Sharks' 64. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Sharks' players. Sharks were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Malcolm Delaney (191-89, college: Virginia Tech) accounted for 29 points and 4 assists. Five Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Argentinian-Spanish power forward Luis Scola (206-80) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) added 16 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for Sharks in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-0 record. Sharks at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Xinjiang FT and Shenzhen L.. Guandong Tigers will play against Golden Bulls (#11) in Hangzhou in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sharks will play at home against the league's second-placed Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#2) and hope to get back on the winning track.
