Regular Season Round 11: Baskonia - CSKA 76-73

The most surprising game was the first loss of Russian CSKA (9-1) in Vitoria on Friday night. Visitors were edged by twelfth ranked Spanish Baskonia (3-7) 76-73. CSKA was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a great evening for French center Vincent Poirier (210-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Georgian Tornike Shengelia (206-91) helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Cory Higgins (196-89, college: Colorado) responded with 17 points and the other American import forward Alec Peters (206-95, college: Valparaiso) scored 20 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Baskonia maintains twelfth place with 3-7 record, which they share with Gran Canaria. Defending Russian champion CSKA still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Fenerbahce. Baskonia is looking forward to face Maccabi T-A (#14) in Tel-Aviv in the next round. CSKA will play at home against Khimki (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
