Regular Season Round 9: Charilaos TM - Diagoras D. 66-71

There was no surprise in Mesolongi where 14th ranked Charilaos TM (2-7) was defeated by third ranked Diagoras D. (6-3) 71-66 on Saturday. Diagoras D. made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Thomas Nikou (185-80) who scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Nikos Kokkalis (198-85) chipped in 14 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian center Stefan Djordjevic (206-89) who recorded 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Sotiris Dovas (185-89) added 10 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Diagoras D. maintains third place with 6-3 record behind leader Ionikos Nikaias, which they share with Amyntas Dafnis and Ermis Agias. Charilaos TM lost their fourth game in a row. Charilaos TM at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Diagoras D. will face league's leader Ionikos Nikaias at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Charilaos TM will play against Amyntas Dafnis (#5) in Athens and hope to win that game.
