Very predictable result when fifth ranked Besancon (7-6) defeated at home 10th ranked Sorgues BC (5-8) 81-64 on Saturday. Besancon dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Sorgues BC's 26 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Lithuanian forward Rokas Uzas (202-88) stepped up and scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners and point guard Eliot Maraux (184-96) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Besancon players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard William Mensah (175-95) responded with 17 points and forward Babacar Diouf (192-88, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Sorgues BC's coach Etienne Faye let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Besancon maintains fifth place in Group A with 7-6 record, which they share with Boulogne. Besancon will face Aubenas (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sorgues BC will play against ALS Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
