Regular Season Round 21: Ehime OV - Yamagata 83-86

A very interesting game took place in Matsuyama. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th placed Orange Vikings (7-14) to fourth ranked Yamagata (10-11) 86-83 in the game for the third place. Yamagata made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists. Nigerian forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum (206-91) contributed with 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Yamagata's coach Ryutaro Onodera allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the other American import swingman Lakeem Jackson (195-90, college: S.Carolina, agency: SDJ Sports) added 10 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Orange Vikings. Five Orange Vikings players scored in double figures. Yamagata moved-up to third place, which they share with Tokyo Z. Orange Vikings at the other side keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. Yamagata's next round opponent will be Gunma (#3) on the road, which may be the game of the day. Orange Vikings will play against Kagawa FA in Takamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
