Regular Season Round 12: Rapid - Miercurea Ciuc 70-68

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Liga Nationala took place in Bucuresti. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (4-8) to sixth ranked Rapid (5-7) 70-68 in the game for the sixth place. The hosts trailed by 12 points at the halftime before their 27-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Rapid forced 20 Miercurea Ciuc turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Mikey Hope (186, college: Adams St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Croatian Goran Kragulj who added 9 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Rapid's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American power forward Andre Pierce (207, college: Lee JC) with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds and forward Raul Olariu (194-92) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Newly promoted Rapid maintains sixth position with 5-7 record. Miercurea Ciuc at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Agronomia Buc.. Rapid are looking forward to face league's leader Phoenix Galati at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Miercurea Ciuc will play against Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
