Regular Season Round 21: Sichuan - Wuhan 89-70

Bottom-ranked Wuhan (0-21) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-70 loss to tenth ranked Blue Whales (10-11) in Chengdu on Friday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Wuhan's 38. Blue Whales looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Belarusian center Yelena Leuchanka (196-83, college: W.Virginia) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and forward Yang Jia (191-87) chipped in 21 points. The best for the losing side was Huaqian Peng with 21 points and Yang Yang scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Blue Whales moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Shanghai and Hebei. Wuhan lost their seventeenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings. Blue Whales will meet Dragons (#12) in the next round. Wuhan will play against Flame (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
