A very close game took place in Taiyuan between Brave Dragons and Blue Whales. Fifteenth ranked Brave Dragons (6-13) got a very close home victory over 19th ranked Blue Whales (3-16). Brave Dragons managed to escape with a 3-point win 107-104 on Friday evening. Brave Dragons made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Brave Dragons outrebounded Blue Whales 47-35 including 36 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American Shabazz Muhammad (198-92, college: UCLA) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 19 rebounds and 8 assists. International forward Junwei Ren (203-90) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Four Brave Dragons players scored in double figures. Brave Dragons' coach Fei Wang used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import power forward Jason Thompson (211-86, college: Rider) added 24 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Brave Dragons moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Nanjing TX MK. Blue Whales lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Tianjin GL. Brave Dragons will meet higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
