Fourteenth-ranked Brasilia (3-10) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Paulistano (9-4) in Sao Paulo. Paulistano managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected much easier game. Paulistano outrebounded Brasilia 42-30 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. International Leonardo Meindl (201-93) notched 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and international point guard Georginho de-Paula (195-96) supported him with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Paulistano's coach Regis Marrelli used entire bench in such tough game. Even a double-double of 15 points and 12 assists by the former international point guard Welington Dos-Santos (185-81) did not help to save the game for Brasilia. Venezuelan center Windi Graterol (204-86, agency: Pro Sports) added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the guests. Five Paulistano and four Brasilia players scored in double figures. Paulistano moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mogi. Newly promoted Brasilia stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Paulistano will play against SKY/Basquete (#10) in Aldeota in the next round where they are favorite. Brasilia will have a break next round.
