Regular Season Round 13: Zentro Basket - Gran Canaria II 79-107

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Zentro Basket (7-6) was outscored by first ranked Gran Canaria II (10-3) in Madrid 107-79 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for point guard Javier Lopez-Santana (185-99) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 8 assists. Finnish forward Thor Bjerregard (199-95) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Gran Canaria II players scored in double figures. Power forward Guillermo Bastante (201-98) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Senegalese center Gana Ndiaye (208-88) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Zentro Basket. Zentro Basket's coach Fernando Reborio gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Gran Canaria II. Despite that victory Gran Canaria II went down to second position (Group B) due to points difference. Newly promoted Zentro Basket dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. Gran Canaria II will face Pozuelo (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zentro Basket's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena Liceo Frances.
