The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Boomers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Boomers defeated 3rd ranked Adelaide Lightning in Melbourne 83-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Adelaide Lightning. Adelaide Lightning was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 30-19 charge of Boomers, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Cayla George (192-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Lindsay Allen (173-95, college: Notre Dame) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Boomers' coach Guy Molloy allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Canadian center Kayla Alexander (193-91, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Nia Coffey (185-95, college: Northwestern, agency: LBM Management) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Adelaide Lightning. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Boomers have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Adelaide Lightning at the other side dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. Adelaide Lightning will play next round against Sydney Uni Flames trying to get back on the winning streak. Boomers will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Dandenong Rangers at home.
