A very close game took place in Singapore between Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL and Singapore Singapore Slingers. Fifth ranked Hong Kong ELL (4-4) got a very close victory on the road over second-ranked Singapore Slingers (6-3). Hong Kong ELL managed to escape with a 3-point win 92-89 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Singapore Slingers. Hong Kong ELL forced 20 Singapore Slingers turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hong Kong ELL made 7 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Eric Ferguson (203-89, college: Georgia South, agency: David Lee Services) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds and guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) who added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) scored 25 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Hong Kong ELL and four Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hong Kong ELL have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Hong Kong ELL went down to sixth position due to points difference. Loser Singapore Slingers keep the second place with three games lost. Hong Kong ELL will meet Westports MD (#8) in the next round. Singapore Slingers will play against the league's leader Formosa D. (#1) in Changhua City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
