Regular Season Round 13: Lugano Tigers - Geneve Lions 80-82

Eighth-ranked Lugano Tigers (4-8) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Geneve Lions (10-2) on Saturday. The visitors from Geneve managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Markel Humphrey (198-87, college: Marshall) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 8 rebounds. American-Armenian guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Serbian guard Nikola Stevanovic (195-92) answered with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Xavier Pollard (193-91, college: Kent St.) added 20 points and 6 assists in the effort for Lugano Tigers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Geneve Lions have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-2 record. Lugano Tigers at the other side keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Geneve Lions are looking forward to face Lakers (#6) in Vevey in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lugano Tigers will play on the road against Pully and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
