Regular Season Round 18: Kharkivski Sokoly - Kremen 99-69

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Kremen (2-14) was crushed on the road by second ranked Kharkivski Sokoly (12-3) 99-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 99-69. Kharkivski Sokoly dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Kremen's 36. Kharkivski Sokoly forced 20 Kremen turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Vladislav Cheverdin (202-94) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (on 15-of-17 shooting from the field). Forward Dmitro Zolotarov (193-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Azerbaijani Amil Hamzayev (204-90, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who recorded 19 points and center Aleksandr Ryhljuk (208-84) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Five Kharkivski Sokoly and four Kremen players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kharkivski Sokoly have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-3 record having just three points less than leader Prometey. Loser Kremen keeps the ninth place with 14 games lost. Kharkivski Sokoly will face again Kremen (#9) in Kremenchuk in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
