Regular Season Round 24: Capitanes - Huracanes 109-74

LNBP top team - Capitanes (15-8) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Huracanes (3-21) in Mexico 109-74. The game was mostly controlled by Capitanes. Huracanes was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Capitanes players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Huracanes' players. 24 personal fouls committed by Huracanes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Panamanian guard Daniel Giron (193-89) who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Manuel Hernandez (193-91) replied with 19 points and naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) added 14 points in the effort for Huracanes. Five Capitanes and four Huracanes players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitanes have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-8 record. Huracanes lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the seventh place with 21 games lost. Capitanes' next round opponent will be again Huracanes (#7) in Tampico where they are favorite.
