Nineteenth-ranked Bayi Rockets (5-20) were very close to win a game against eighth ranked Sturgeons (14-11) in Jinjiang. Sturgeons managed to secure only one-point victory 103-102. However their fans expected much easier game. Bayi Rockets were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Canadian Andrew Nicholson (206-89, college: St.Bonaventure) scored 45 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international Zhelin Wang (214-94) chipped in 19 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. The former international guard Shuo Han (196-86) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and international guard Lei Meng (193-95) scored 22 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sturgeons maintains eighth position with 14-11 record, which they share with Guangzhou LL. Bayi Rockets lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Tianjin GL. Sturgeons will play against Jiangsu Dragons (#10) in Nanjing in the next round. Bayi Rockets will play at home against Golden Stars (#11) and hope to get back on the winning track.
