Regular Season Round 8: BC Titebi - TSU-Hyundai 86-93
Date: December 28, 2018
Another interesting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Tbilisi: TSU-Hyundai (#3) and BC Titebi (#6). BC Titebi was defeated at home 86-93 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-86. TSU-Hyundai looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American swingman Ben Vozzola (198-92, college: St.Catharine) who scored that evening 16 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and the former international power forward Nika Metreveli (213-91) supported him with 18 points. TSU-Hyundai's coach Nikoloz Cherkezishvili used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 27 points and 16 rebounds by Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Joel Almeida (195-85, college: Brockport St.) did not help to save the game for BC Titebi. International center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90) added 21 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. TSU-Hyundai have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Dinamo Tbilisi. BC Titebi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh position with four games lost.
