Regular Season Round 14: Brose Bask. - Bayreuth 84-94

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked BBC Bayreuth (9-4) beat one of their biggest challengers Brose Baskets (9-4) in Bamberg 94-84 on Thursday. American forward DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) notched 26 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Canadian guard Kassius Robertson (191-94, college: Missouri) supported him with 15 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Five BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 8 rebounds by Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Brose Baskets. American-Georgian Ricky Hickman (189-85, college: NC-Greensboro) added 17 points for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BBC Bayreuth moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Brose Bask. BBC Bayreuth will meet league's leader Bayern Muenchen on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Brose Baskets will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#10) and hope to secure a win.
