Regular Season Round 8: Piestanske C. - TTT Riga 66-84

EWBL top team - Latvian TTT Riga (7-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventh ranked Slovakian Piestanske C. (3-3) in Piestany 84-66. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Piestanske C.. The game was mostly controlled by TTT Riga. Piestanske C. was better in second period 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TTT Riga forced 19 Piestanske C. turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of center Kristine Vitola (193-91, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Sheylani Peddy (170-88, college: Temple, agency: LBM Management) who added 8 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four TTT Riga players scored in double figures. Center Rebeka Mikulasikova (191-99) responded with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Canadian center Jessica Lubin (185-90, college: UQAM) scored 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. TTT Riga have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending Latvian champion maintains first position with 7-0 record. Piestanske C. at the other side keeps the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with Olimpia and Young Angels. TTT Riga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Piestanske C. will play at home against Lulea Basket (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
