The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Vendee Challans (13-3) on the court of fifth ranked STB Le Havre on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by STB Le Havre 81-72. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group B. STB Le Havre dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Vendee Challans' 30. They outrebounded Vendee Challans 41-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. American forward Demond Watt (200-89, college: Texas A&M-CC) stepped up and scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Romain Dardaine (201-88) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Paul Turpin (190-93) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Dominique Gentil (197-88, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 19 points. STB Le Havre (10-6) moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Bordeaux. Vendee Challans at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. STB Le Havre is looking forward to face Brissac Anjou (#13) in Brissac-Quince in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vendee Challans will play on the road against CFBB (#14) in Paris and is hoping to win this game.
