Date: January 6, 2019
A1 top team - Panathinaikos (11-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Holargos (6-6) in Athens 86-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Holargos. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Holargos' 28. Panathinaikos forced 20 Holargos turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by international Konstantinos Mitoglou (208-96, college: Wake Forest) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and international point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) supported him with 10 points and 6 assists. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Even 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American-Nigerian power forward Danny Agbelese (206-90, college: Hampton, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Holargos. American guard Javontae Hawkins (196-93, college: Fordham, agency: Higher Vision Sports) added 17 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-0 record. Newly promoted Holargos keeps the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Ifestos. Panathinaikos will play against bottom-ranked Kymis (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Holargos will play against Panionios (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
