Regular Season Round 12: Al-Najma - Nuwaidrat 70-99

An interesting game took place in Manama where higher ranked Al-Najma (4-6) was upset on its own court by twelfth ranked Al-Nweidrat (2-9) 99-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al-Najma. Al-Nweidrat dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Najma's 30. It was a good game for American-Guamanian forward Curtis Washington (208-91, college: Georgia St., agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. Hassan Abbas contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International Mohamed Buallay (-95) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists and Fadhelallah Abbas added 20 points in the effort for Al-Najma. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al-Najma's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Al-Nweidrat moved-up to eleventh place. Al-Najma at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Al-Nweidrat's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Samaheej (#13) in Manama.
