The game in Bucuresti supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Marmatiei (11-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Rapid (7-10). Marmatiei smashed Rapid 78-39 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Marmatiei led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Rapid to an opponent 22.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.2 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Rapid 48-32 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Marmatiei made 7 blocks. American point guard Joshua Turner (193-92, college: Calgary) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Allan Thomas (193-90, college: Georgetown, KY) accounted for 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Marmatiei players scored in double figures. Marmatiei's coach Emil Kosztelnik felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Naziru Catalin came up with 8 points and 12 rebounds and Laurentiu Dumitrescu added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Rapid in the defeat. Marmatiei moved-up to third place. Rapid lost their fourth game in a row. Rapid at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Miercurea Ciuc. Marmatiei will meet at home Aurel Vlaicu Bucuresti (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
