Very expected game when 9th ranked Psychiko (6-7) was smashed on the road by second ranked Ionikos Nikaias (10-3) 91-71 on Saturday. Ionikos Nikaias made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. Psychiko was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for point guard Fotis Vasilopoulos (187-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 assists. The former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Ionikos Nikaias players scored in double figures. Estonian Martin Paasoja (191-93) answered with 25 points and 7 rebounds and forward Nikolaos Papanikolaou (209-85) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Psychiko. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ionikos Nikaias have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Iraklis. Loser Psychiko keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. Ionikos Nikaias will face Karditsas (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Psychiko will play against Kavala and hope to win that game.
