An interesting game for Bayer Giants (15-1) which hosted in Leverkusen 3rd ranked Fraport Skyliners II (10-6). First ranked Bayer Giants had an easy win 86-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Fraport Skyliners II. Bayer Giants had a 32-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Fraport Skyliners II's players. The winners were led by center Dennis Heinzmann (216-91) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and French swingman Ron Mvouika (196-91, college: St.John's) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even 23 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Dennis Mavin (190-91, college: FIU) did not help to save the game for Fraport Skyliners II. Center Cosmo Gruehn (204-98) added 8 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bayer Giants have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South with 15-1 record. Loser Fraport Skyliners II keeps the third place with six games lost. Bayer Giants will meet at home Dragons Rhoendorf (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fraport Skyliners II will play against Elchingen (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
