Regular Season Round 23: Rieker KN - Prievidza 74-77

The most exciting game of round 23 in the SBL took place in Komarno. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Rieker KN (9-12) to fifth ranked Prievidza (11-9) 77-74 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rieker KN. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Delvon Johnson (206-89, college: Arkansas) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Tim Derksen (192-93, college: USF) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Devin Brooks (186-92, college: Creighton) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Liam OReilly (188, college: Gardner-Webb) added 18 points respectively for the hosts. Five Prievidza and four Rieker KN players scored in double figures. Rieker KN's coach Andras Vavra rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Prievidza have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Zilina. Rieker KN at the other side keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Prievidza is looking forward to face league's second-placed Levice at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rieker KN will play against Nova Ves (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
