Regular Season Round 17: Benahavis - San Fernando 94-75

There was no surprise when 10th ranked San Fernando (2-15) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Benahavis (11-3) 94-75 on Saturday. Benahavis outrebounded San Fernando 35-16 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by San Fernando's players. Forward Javier Meras (194-82) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Jermaine Sanders (196-92, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Iago Paz responded with 16 points and center Javier Casermeiro (197-95) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five Benahavis and four San Fernando players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Benahavis maintains second place in Group D-B with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader Algeciras. Newly promoted San Fernando dropped to the ninth position with 15 games lost. Benahavis will face Caceres (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. San Fernando will play against Huelva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
