The game in Pleven was also quite interesting. Second ranked Beroe (11-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Spartak Pleven (6-7). Beroe managed to secure a 4-point victory 89-85 on Saturday. Beroe dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 30 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was international swingman Nikolay Stoyanov (195-94) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward James White (203-93, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Nikolay Marinov (190-94) who recorded 33 points (!!!) and 6 assists and point guard Tsvetoslav Ostrev (175-86) added 12 points and 7 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Beroe have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-2 record behind leader Levski Lukoil. Loser Spartak Pleven dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Akademik PL. Beroe will meet at home Yambol (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Spartak Pleven will play against Academik Plovdiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
