There was no surprise when 8th ranked Malaysian Westports MD (5-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL (9-7) 79-70 on Wednesday. American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-Dominican guard ODarien Bassett (189-86, college: Troy) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Hong Kong ELL players scored in double figures. Hong Kong ELL's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American Winston Shepard (203-93, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Nnanna Egwu (211-92, college: Illinois) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds.
