Date: January 26, 2019
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Ibbenbueren and 8th ranked Hagen-Haspe had identical 7-9 record. But Hagen-Haspe was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Ibbenbueren 100-88 on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was forward Benjamin Fumey (203-87, college: Valparaiso) who scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Denzel Johnson (190, college: Santa Clara) chipped in 20 points. Ibbenbueren's coach Christian Beuing used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Oscar Luchterhandt (195-91) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Maximilian Fouhy (196-0) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Ibbenbueren have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place in West. Loser Hagen-Haspe dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Ibbenbueren will face league's leader Duesseldorf at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hagen-Haspe will play against Recklinghausen (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
