Regular Season Round 21: Art.Dragons - Chemnitz 103-96

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Chemnitz (16-4) in Quakenbrueck on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by ninth ranked Artland Dragons (10-11) 103-96. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chemnitz. Artland Dragons shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Chemnitz helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Chase Griffin (190-83, college: Pepperdine) stepped up and scored 25 points and 5 assists for the winners and forward Paul Albrecht (205-93) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was swingman Jonas Richter (205-97) with 15 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Lukas Wank (199-97) scored 13 points. Five Artland Dragons and four Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Artland Dragons maintains ninth place with 10-11 record, which they share with Kirchheim. Chemnitz at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Artland Dragons is looking forward to face Nuernberg (#11) on the road in the next round. Chemnitz will play against Phoenix Hagen (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
