Regular Season Round 19: Koeln Rh.Stars - Elchingen 69-82

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Koeln Rh.Stars (4-15) lost at home to sixth ranked Elchingen (10-9) 82-69 on Saturday. Elchingen made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Elchingen outrebounded Koeln Rh.Stars 40-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Croatian forward Jere Vucica (206-92, college: Miami, OH, agency: Court Side) who led the winners and scored 22 points. Forward Brian Butler (196-91) accounted for 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Elchingen players scored in double figures. American guard Tucker Haymond (198-94, college: W.Michigan) came up with 25 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Slovakian point guard Vladimir Nemcok (183-95, college: Oklah.Baptist) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Koeln Rh.Stars in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Elchingen moved-up to fifth place in South. Loser Koeln Rh.Stars keep the eleventh position with 15 games lost. They share it with Rhoendorf. Elchingen will meet at home Dragons Rhoendorf (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Koeln Rh.Stars will play against FC Bayern II in Muenchen and hope to secure a win.
