Regular Season Round 36: Yamagata - Fukushima 75-71

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Yamagata (15-21) defeated at home one of their biggest challengers Fukushima (17-19) 75-71 on Saturday. It was a good game for swingman Mitsutaka Izawa (194-93) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Seiji Kouno (172-89) contributed with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Yamagata players scored in double figures. American power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and point guard Shinya Murakami (172-91) added 14 points and 4 steals in the effort for Fukushima. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Yamagata moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ehime OV. Loser Fukushima dropped to the third position with 19 games lost. Yamagata will face again Fukushima (#4) at home in the next round.
