There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Coburg (9-10) lost at home to eighth ranked FC Bayern II (9-10) 87-71 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Nelson Weidemann (190-99) who led the winners and scored 16 points. Jacob Knauf (210-97) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. FC Bayern II's coach Demond Greene used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Christopher Wolf (199-95) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and French guard Kevin Franceschi (191-93, college: Oklah.Baptist) added 17 points respectively for Coburg in the defeat. Four Coburg players scored in double figures. FC Bayern II moved-up to sixth place in South, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Coburg. FC Bayern II will meet at home Koeln Rh.Stars (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Coburg will play against Giessen 46ers II (#3) and hope to secure a win.
