Regular Season Round 27: Hoverla - Kyiv Basket 2 90-85

Not a big story in a game in Ivano-Frankivsk where 7th ranked Kyiv Basket 2 (8-16) was defeated by fifth ranked Hoverla (11-11) 90-85 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kyiv Basket 2 won fourth quarter 33-31. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kyiv Basket 2 46-26 including 32 on the defensive glass. Hoverla looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for point guard Andriy Kalashnikov (175-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 11 assists. Center Volodymyr Orlenko (212-85) helped adding 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was point guard Oleksandr Sydoruk (187-1) with 28 points and forward Sergey Shevtchenko (202-95) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hoverla moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Kyiv Basket 2 keeps the seventh position with 16 games lost. Hoverla will face Politekhn.Lvov (#6) in Lviv in the next round. Kyiv Basket 2 will play on the road against the league's second-placed Rivne-OSHVSM and hope to win that game.
