Al Riffa cruised past Al Najma in the opener. Al-Riffa dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Najma's 46. They outrebounded Al-Najma 39-25 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al-Riffa looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Mohamed Kawaid (-89) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international swingman Mohamed Nabeel contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American Kevin Rogers (206-86, college: Baylor) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Hussain Mohammed added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Al-Najma. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
