No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Zalgiris II (17-15) beat 11th ranked Taurages (12-19) in Kaunas 94-78 on Thursday. Zalgiris II dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Taurages' 42. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Guard Rokas Jokubaitis (192-0) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Erikas Venskus (205-0) contributed with 16 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Kersis used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Paulius Morkeliunas (201-85, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) added 16 points in the effort for Taurages. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Zalgiris II. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Silute. Loser Taurages keeps the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Zalgiris II will have a break next round. Taurages will play at home against Jonava (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
