There was no surprise when 7th ranked Boet (8-8) was defeated on the road by third ranked Esparreguera (11-5) 80-72 on Saturday. Esparreguera outrebounded Boet 38-17 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ruben Morales (193-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard Miquel Aliaga (189-99) who added 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. American Nicholas Moore (198-91, college: Nyack) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Miquel Puig (192-0) scored 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Esparreguera have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Esparreguera maintains third position in Group C-A with 11-5 record having five points less than leader Algeciras, which they share with Igualada and Mataro Feimat. Loser Boet keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Esparreguera will face Cornella (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Boet will play against Igualada (#4) and hope to win that game.
