Regular Season Round 17: Kastoria - Ionikos Nikaias 65-73

A2 top team - Ionikos Nikaias (15-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Kastoria (9-8) 73-65. The former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) nailed 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and Vaggelis Karaboulas (198-81) accounted for 17 points. Center Petros Melissaratos (205-93) came up with 23 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Serbian forward Svetozar Stamenkovic (206-90) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Kastoria in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Ionikos Nikaias. Newly promoted Ionikos Nikaias maintains first place with 15-2 record. Kastoria at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Amyntas Dafnis and Charilaos TM. Ionikos Nikaias will play against Evropi (#12) in Pefkohori in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Kastoria will play on the road against Kavala (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
