Regular Season Round 22: Juventus - Neptunas 88-89

Sixth-ranked Juventus (8-15) gave a tough game to third ranked Neptunas (17-5) in Utena. The visitors from Klaipeda managed to secure only one-point victory 89-88. However their fans expected easier game. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Neptunas forced 25 Juventus turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Neptunas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 21 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and American guard Kyle Weaver (198-86, college: Washington St., agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 12 points and 6 assists. Five Neptunas players scored in double figures. Even 23 points by American guard Kenny Gaines (190-94, college: Georgia) did not help to save the game for Juventus. Forward Arvydas Siksnius (196-87, college: Weatherford JC) added 18 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Neptunas moved-up to second place, which they share with Rytas. Juventus lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Neptunas will play against league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Juventus will play on the road against Lietkabelis (#4) in Panevezys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
