Regular Season Round 21: San Miniato - Cecina 71-67
Date: February 10, 2019
There was no surprise when 15th ranked Cecina (6-15) was defeated on the road by third ranked San Miniato (16-5) 71-67 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Guard Ferdinando Nasello (194-95) stepped up and scored 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Jacopo Preti (200-94) chipped in 25 points. San Miniato's coach Federico Barsotti allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Alexander Cicchetti (200-98, agency: Players Group) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and naturalized Senegalese Samuel Gaye-Serigne (198-96, agency: Players Group) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for San Miniato. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Cecina dropped to the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. San Miniato will face Omnia Basket (#11) in Pavia in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cecina will play at home against Fiorentina and hope to win that game.
